Before everyone carried one in their pocket.
A blue Telkom booth, a handful of coins, and a short line of people waiting their turn. The public phone was where plans were made and arguments ended. Most have disappeared from Jakarta's streets. This one won't: it only needs paper, glue and five A4 sheets.

What you'll print
Print at 100% (turn off “fit to page”) on 160–200 gsm paper or thin card. The first sheet has the legend and notes.
How to build
From flat to finished
- 01Print every sheet at actual size on 160–200 gsm paper.
- 02Score the fold lines with an empty ballpoint and a ruler before you cut.
- 03Cut along the solid lines. Where the legend shows a star, cut a hole.
- 04Fold, then glue part by part in number order, holding each tab until it grips.
- 05Let it dry before you play with it.
